I'm not 100% sure if it's complaining that /var/satellite
on you satalite server is a problem or if it's complaining
that /var/satellite on the remote server is a problem.
Check to make sure that you can see and use /var/satellite
on your server to be sure.
check /var/satalite's usage ( use df and du)
go to that dir and make files, remove files, edit files.
Do you get errors?
What does dmesg say after that?
You need to be sure this is not a local problem.

Thanks Nick
