Another shortcoming that Red Hat Network and Up2date only
has versions of
software that Redhat has made available.

I've seen certain tools indicate a version of software is
vulnerable for a
number of months before redhat has those patched versions
available through
redhat network or up2date.

When I inquire to their mailing list regarding these issues
they won't allow
my emails to be sent to the list.

I don't think that is good service for those of us who
actually subscribe
and pay for updates.

The only thing I can think of is that you may have tried to
post to a
mailing list that you were not a member of. It's a pretty
standard spam
prevention policy to restrict posts to members only on many
mailing
lists. Are you sure you were a member of the list(s) your
message(s) did
not get through to?

I am one of the administrators of this list. Moderation
tasks such as
keeping the discussions on-topic has been an open community
effort. Your
messages are not being blocked by this list's
administrators.

This depends on your point of view. Not getting a mess
created by
mixing repos is a benefit to a lot of folks. And while the
Red Hat
Network provides software blessed by Red Hat, you can easily
configure
up2date to access other repositories of software if you wish
to do
that.

Recently? In my experience over the past couple of years I
have not
noticed this to have happened. Do you have examples?

Red Hat's diligence in pushing out security errata is one of
Red Hat's
strengths I think.
