Does it vibrate for a few seconds when you first reset it?
If so, you should
be able to connect to it by serial. Do you have
hyperterminal configured to
115200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow
control?

What *exactly* happens when you hard reset it?
