I Desperatly need HELP

i just bought a compaq ipaq h3800 handheld he hadnt used it
in like 2 years so he didnt remember the pw to log in  on it
he is running             ARM Bootloader              
rev.2.21.12    and i spoke with a tech from hp but he was no
help... he told me to hard reset it to restore factory
defaults and it didnt work...   is there a secret way to do
this?    Please let me know if there is!
