Sorry to bother you with this. 

As already noted previously, the slides part in the 1.71.1 version of docbook-xsl seems to be broken.

Is an update planned soon?

Planned but probably not released until middle of December
at the
earliest. The workaround is to download the 1.71.0 release
and
copy over the slides directly from that manually.
