About SQL Search / Tripsearch

Is it really not possible to keep supporting it as a module?

I'm not going to continue to update the engine only to lose
functionalities 
and the current search module in 4.7.0 still misses basic
functions that I'm 
relying on (like searching by date or parts of words).
