Thread: Edubuntu LTSP with Netware Authentication

Edubuntu LTSP with Netware Authentication

I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this.

I have been trying for th past week to get Edubuntu to
authenticate thin clients against a Novell Netware 6.5
server. I have had limited success getting the server itself
to authenticate via the /etc/pam.d/gdm file pointing to
pam_ncp_auth.so but I cant get home directories to map
still.

What am I missing to get the thin clients to authenticate in
the same manner?

Thanks!

When you attempt a login at a thin client, ldm (the thin
client display
manager) attempts an ssh connection to the server. I'm not
hugely
knowledgeable about pam but I'd say you need to convince ssh
to
authenticate using the netware server, presumably by
doctoring
/etc/pam.d/ssh. As soon as you find you can ssh into the
server (from
anywhere) and be authenticated via netware, you should be
able to login at
the thin clients (presuming home dirs, etc. are in place for
that user).
