Hi folks
I've just joined this list although I'm not a high powered
programmer so
I think at first my skills can probably be best used in one
of the other
teams. I'm open to suggestions on that score.
I've been a Web site administrator at Dundee University in
Scotland, an
IT tutor in Community Education, a teacher of English as a
Foreign
Language in bond, from August 2003 to September 2007 I was
living in a
Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Scottish Borders where I
was Webmaster
and Web designer for two sites, and I'm currently studying
for an MA in
Writing for Children at Winchester University in England.
I'm also a writer, storyteller and performance poet for
children and
families. But be warned, The Smelly Wellie Tele Show is
nowhere near as
exciting as it sounds; it's just me I'm afraid and it isn't
on the telly.
Oh, and I sing a bit but I'm really rubbish at tap dancing
:-[
Looking through the Edubuntu lists, my skills don't fit
Development,
Artwork or Bugsquad. So that leaves:
Website
Handbook
Documentation
Advocacy
Study Content
I'd be happy to start off helping with any of these.
One proviso: I've installed and used 3 or 4 different
distros in the
past but I'm nowhere near an expert, so being assigned a
mentor would
probably be very useful.
And one last point for now. I've just bought a new laptop -
an Acer
Aspire 7720G Intel Dual Core processor - and I've installed
Ubuntu 7.10
to dual boot with Vista. Needless to say it's not plain
sailing and
there are no guides in English for the 7720G so writing a
report on my
experiences might be a good place to start.
However, like I said I'm open to suggestions regarding which
team I
might join so, over to you folks.
All the best,
Chik
