Hello!

I downloaded edubuntu-6.06.1-live-i386.iso livecd to check
it out. When
I launch gcompris, it just logs me out from the desktop
without any error
message. Then I downloaded and installed
edubuntu-6.06-install-i386.iso
and updated it. Same effect: when I try to start gcompris,
I just be
thrown out from the desktop. There's a
gcompris-administration, which
offers to administrate user/groups/tables, but actually, I
can't enter
anything to it.

I can reproduce this on 3 different computers.

Anybody seen such problems? Any ideas what I screw up here?

edubuntu-6.06 -- the current stable one? That's pretty
strange.

This looks pretty relevant:

http://www.archivum.i
nfo/k12osnredhat.com/2006-04/msg00149.html

suggests you run a command line and type:

	gcompris -x

though I've no idea from here what that actually does.

Are those computers all the same hardware or all different?
I'm
particularly thinking of the video card. Can you tell us
which one it is
(lspci on each machine should give details)?

Not sure but if you get bounced out of your session, you
might like in your
home directory at the file .xsession-errors to see does some
error appear
there. You might also look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see
is there any
error in there.

The manpage don't say anything about this option. But it
seems to help.

All completely different:

- a 1.4GHz Palomino with Matrox MGA
- a 3.2GHz P4 with intel on-board graphic
- a 850MHz Celeron with via CLE266 on-board graphic

I can supply lspci output if it would help to locate the
problem.

Ah, will try to remember for the next time. Thanx!

BTW: Is there any way to use DHCP while installing edubuntu?
