Hi all,
I last used gnomemeeting a couple of years ago - wow has it
improved.
I have setup ekiga and can successfully test with
sip:500 ekiga.net
everything appears to work pretty well perfectly.
OK dumb question. I have a relative in Australia running
netmeeting. We used
to log into ils.seconix.com
protocol h232
gatekeeper ils.seconix.com,
my old user name and password
I get 'registration failed'
running in debug mode I get ...

ILS is dead. Try to use ekiga.net
Snark on #ekiga

So I replaced ils.seconix.com with ekiga.net and also tried
ils.ekiga.net -
changed my user name and password to that used for my
ekiga.net account,
gatekeeper ID blank ...
and ...
'registration failed' :(

Ahh I got a 'registered'
So opening up my address book, adding a new entry name
netmeeting, ekiga.net,
port 389, base dn 1, search attribute rfc822mailbox
found 0 users in netmeeting
Dave (almost there)

ILS is *_DEAD_*.
Get your friend to either use the alpha ekiga port to win32
or windows
messenger (which is not msn messenger).
Once registered, you can check your configuration by calling
sip:500 ekiga.net
Snark on #ekiga

OK I now have ekiga running, registering and I can see
everyone All is
good
from my end,
But ...
I am having trouble with my XP friend in Australia. He used
to log into
ils..... and we linked from there, no problem.
We have tried ekiga.net, ldap.ekiga.net but it appears that
netmeeting will
not log on and give a list of users.
Am I right in thinking that ekiga.net is good for SIp &
h323 so in theory he
should be able to log on ?
Dave
PS Unfortunately running ekiga.net for windows in Australia
is a no go :(

Ekiga now supports H.323 and SIP. If you see users
registered on
ldap·ekiga.net, they are SIP users. It doesn't work with
Netmeeting, only
with Ekiga and other SIP clients (like SJPhone or X-Lite).
We dropped ILS support, because it was hard to maintain, and
there are few
Netmeeting users around. I think the only possibilities left
for your
friend and you are :
- Contact using the IP address directly
- Make her/him move to a SIP software, be it Ekiga or any
other SIP
implementation for WIN32.
thanks,
