Hi all,

I’m trying to install the developer RPMs in order to compile the latest drivers for the e1000 boards, but I’m having problems convincing the gcc rpm to install.

When I run:

smart install gcc-3.4.6-3.endian6.i386.rpm

I get the responseo:p>

Error: can’t install gcc-1:3.4.6-3.endian6i386: no package provides binutils => 2.15.92.0.2-18

When I run rpm –I gcc-3.4.6-3.endian6.i686.rpm

I get a failed dependencies error regarding binutils 2.15.92.0.2-18…

Is there anywhere I can get a copy of binutils as an rpm?

Cheers,

Joe

Did you try using binutils from the CentOS 4 repo? AFAIK,
Endian is
based on them.
cheers, Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your reply...

I've managed to install them from the Endian SRPMS...
I've also installed the kernel from the SRPMS as well...

I've now managed to get gcc working...

Unfortunately, when I run make install on the drivers, I get
a "Linux kernel
source not found. Stop." Error...
I tried creating a symbolic link from the /usr/src/endian to
/usr/src/linux
But I still get the same problem.
I also tried with /usr/src/endian/SOURCES as the symbolic
link...
And I tried by adding /usr/src/endian to the list of places
the Makefile
looks for the kernel sources...
...But nothing seems to work...

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Joe
