Summary: Dynamic DNS Auto Update - Broken
Initial Comment:

Last night my IP changed, and the Dynamic DNS service
didn't update. If I do a "force update" it
works, but
it's not updating automatically when it changes. Is
there a way to have it periodically update?
I have tested this and it is confirmed. I use
dyndns.org and have to hit "force update" in
order for
my dyndns.org service records to update.
Best regards,
Dayne

I have also problems with no-ip service, it doesn't work
even if I force the update, the only way to get it working
is by running noip -c from the firewall shell and creating
a new config file and then running the client also from the
shell.

all files in /etc/rc.d/updatered/active will be triggered
after a red interface comes up (ppp, static, dhcp, or
whatsoever)
that sleep sounds interesting. maybe this is only a timeing
problem. thank you for information. i will delay the whole
updatered hook if there is used ppp

Hi All,
i have inserted the following line
in /usr/local/bin/setddns.pl :
sleep 15;
after defining the variable part.
Thats works fine on my systems.
i hope that works on every system since the next version
of efw has fixed the problem on the right way.
Best regards

Hi all,
i have the same problem.
But to copy the script setddns to cron.minutely is not
working because dyndns.org is blockeing the account after
to much updates with the same ip.
So we need a new script that is checking the ip against
the database on dnydns-site first before updating.
has someone an idea where i could place this script in the
startscript of the pppd?
