To avoid compilation I installed the latest Erlang release from CEAN. That worked fine, but compared to traditional installation, where binaries such as erl, erlc, etc. go into /usr/local/bin, with cean everything remains inside the cean installation directory.
Did I miss a step or how do others deal with this ?

Thanks very much. If this question comes up again you should maybe put the information about BASEDIR into a README file.
I forgot one point if you link start.sh to /usr/local/bin/erl you must change one value into start.sh script to make it work at the beginning of the script you must put this line
