Hi all,
I got a breakthrough. Once again, I feel the WIKI has to be
updated for Windows-specific issues. I did the following:
1. I changed the APP_GETTEXT_MODE from "native" to
"php" in <eventum-2.0.1>/config/config.php
2. In the same file, I changed APP_DEFAULT_LOCALE to
"it_IT"
3. Now, all the Text Labels were magically changed to
Italian!! SUCCESS
Once again, my setup is on
WindowsXP-SP2+Apache-2.2.4+PHP-5.2.1+MySQL-5.0.37-nt
community ediiton.
The following are my observations / opinions:
1. I think eventum does not provide an
"Out-of-the-box" Localization as yet
2. The caption "Available Languages" in the
"Account Preferences" section in the
"Preferences" page is misleading. I feel that it
should be "Preferred Language" or so.
3. Nothing happens if I change the "Available
Languages" to the language of my choice. I need to
tweak <eventum-2.0.1>/config/config.php and change the
definition of APP_DEFAULT_LOCALE to the language that has
the corresponding
<eventum-2.0.1>/misc/localization/<lang>/LC_MESS
AGES/eventum.mo file. Otherwise there is no translation.
4. I feel that users should be able to change their
preferred language through the "preferences" page
and there should be translation.
5. There should be a script / utility bundled along with
Eventum for the creation of the "*.mo" files. I
understand that this is really outside eventum - more to do
with the "gettext" utility. But it would be
useful if it is bundled somewhere under the "misc"
folder.
Otherwise, Eventum is fantastic!
Thanks and rgds,
Watson

Correct. That's how it works. No problems here (LAMP
enviromnent).
Is it a new "clean" install or an update?
Did you enable error/warning display?
In config/config.php
ini_set("display_errors", 1);
error_reporting(E_ALL);

<eventum-2.0.1>/misc/localization/it_IT/LC_MESSAGES.
