Hi Elan,

Thanks for your reply.

BTW, "workarounds" make me nervous. I have been
using Eventum on the WAMP platform and I guess php-gettext
mode is the only option by which I could get the
translations working. I use msgfmt utility through Cygwin.
Hence I personally feel that there should be a
"straight way" instead of "workarounds"
to support translations on non-linux/unix platforms also -
especially Windows.

Hopefully I see an updated release that takes care of this.

Thanks and rgds,
Watson

apparently you were running php-gettext mode and it didn't
support the way
eventum setup locales.

please try current svn. there are now workarounds commited.

and under Set Preferences eventum displays only locales it
is able to handle
(it tests is the locale ok to use). and if none of the
locales work it just
doesn't display anything

Hi Bryan,

I liked the localization / translation funda in Eventum
2.0.1 very much
because it helped me implement some requirements in my
company - like
changing "Issue" to "Task".

All I used to do is create an "Eventum.mo" file
out of the default
"Eventum.po" with the necessary translations. And
voila, it used to
work like a charm - I need not tweak the main source code
(*.php or
*.tpl.html files) for this!

But with 2.1, I was disappointed to see that the above funda
is not
working. Also, I noticed some name changes in the relevant
directories
- egs. "en_US" is now "en" under
"<Eventum-path>/misc/localization/LC_MESSAGES&quo
t;. Also, I noticed that I
am no longer getting the Language drop-down in the "Set
Preferences"
page.

Sadly, due to pressure and time constraints, I had to move
back to 2.0.1
but I am certainly missing some nice features (like
"Hide Closed Issues"
in the Stats page, Custom Fields related additons and
"Move Issue to
another Project").

Just wanted to know, if this is really an intended change
and if yes,
how can I achieve the same result I used to get in 2.0.1 in
2.1?

Almost close to 2 years I have using Eventum and customizing
it to
provide some solutions to my company. I have only seen it
getting
better over time. I simply love it!!

Thanks and rgds,
Watson

hi

the php-gettext is itself workaround. words by it's author

the changes i made make it more compatible by the actual
gettext extension
that cames with php distribution.
