Index Problem

I tried to a "fink index" command and received the error below. I also tried the "scanpackages" command before and that didn't help (same response). Any ideas? $ fink index Reading package info... I have been in and out of it a dozen times this weekend, but neglected to for this instance (most of the other times I was unable to find the answer I sought).
