Pango and freetype

Posting it again since I got a wierd message from the
moderator that  
I'm not on the list..

I want to install mono-tools and to do that I need to
install:

But then som packages require libgettext3-dev and some
require  
gettext-dev. And it doesn't seem like they can co-exist. The
problem  
is that libgettext3 has no problem with finding freetype.
gettext-dev  
on the other hand gives me the following:
checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config
configure: error: Xft Pango backend found but did not find
freetype  
libraries
### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 1
Removing build lock...


ive tried rebuidling freetype and freetype2. Any
suggestions?

The problem is at one point you installed the Mono
framework, which 
foolishly symlinks freetype-config into /usr/bin.

Do "sudo rm -rf /usr/bin/freetype-config" and it
should work.
