Can't make out what is important nor see any other error
messages.

The dependecy symlink problem with freetype and mono was the
cause,

Still autoconf is rather difficult to install. It has
stopped  
complaining about emacs but emacs -version gives:
GNU Emacs 21.3.50.1

It seems to be a package conflict and I can't remove
autoconf2.5  
because of the dependencies. The latest message I got was
