I've installed mathomatic an started it. Everything is
displayed in
green letters. Can I change this to a color which is better
readable?

Thanks.

"man mathomatic" mentions the '-c' flag, which
turns off the color.

It seems that green is what was intended. You can start the
program
with the argument -c. That will make the text black. I guess
you are
supposed to operate it with a dark (black) background to
simulate the
green phosphorus monochrome monitors we had years ago.
Someone else
must explain how to do that. The online documentation is
at:

http://mathom
atic.orgserve.de/math/doc/

The manpage mentions the -c argument.

That can be set in your terminal program, e.g.
Terminal.app's Window Settings.

Maybe, but is this useful? I ain't gonna change my windows
setting
for a single programme. Color might even be useful in the
context of
that program, but the choosen green is hardly readable on a
white or
somehow transparent background. It would be useful to be
able to set
the color. It seems, that is not possible.

Thanks.

As an option, at least for Terminal.app you can change it
for a window
that's already running without altering the default
behavior.

You can set it to black or whatever your current color is.

"mathomatic -c" runs it that way. You can also try
something like
"xterm -bg darkblue -e mathomatic" as a startup
line. There is also
a "set bold" command for when the green is hard
to read. On my
screen "set bold" makes the text harder to read.
