I am still trying to figure out how you must have configured
your Fink
installation in order to see what you are seeing.
I assume you are running MacOSX 10.4, right?
You also have enabled the unstable tree (otherwise you
wouldn't see
boost1.32)?
But you never ran fink selfupdate-rsync or fink
selfupdate-cvs?

This is very old (2 years). I hope it is not too old to be
able to
update itself to a contemporary version.

At least this is not the dreaded 10.4-transitional
distribution. But you
never selfupdated, so you still see the ancient state of
2006 vintage
Fink. Try running "fink selfupdate-rsync".

yes

correct

I was using FinkCommander, and as I didn't find any boost
packages, I
checked the 'use unstable packages' option. then I also ran
the File ->
Update Table option, and then these boost libraries
appeared. it seems
this is not enough though.

I downloaded and installed Fink 0.8.1 Binary installper
(Intel) from
here: http://www.finkproject.org/download/index.php?phpLang=en

should I download something else?

ok, I'm running this now, seems to recompile loads of stuff.
BTW,
running this command from FinkCommander didn't work, because
the command
was asking questions (like which mirrors to use), but one
coulnd't
answer them in any way.

let's see what will be the result..
