Virtual Tex package?

On my former machine I had gwTeX installed as aTex
distribution. I
installed it again on my new iMac now using MacTeX. Is
there,
meanwhile, any virtual package which amkes fink use this TeX

distribution? I don't like to install tetex.

Thanks.

Assuming you're on 10.5, then no, there is not.

The maintainer for our system-tetex placeholder package got
tired of the
upstream distributions (like gwTeX) randomly moving files
around and
therefore making the placeholder break--it's more than just
being able
to find the "tex" executable--which caused
problems for users. His
decision was therefore just to have packages install a Fink
TeX
distribution (tetex or ptex).

I'm trying to make a push to remove such a dependency from
packages
which don't need TeX to build and can be configured use a
third-party
TeX distribution at runtime. It puts more responsibility on
the user,
but since it appears that the current TeX distributions for
OS X aren't
going to be as easy for us to package, this may be a
reasonable workaround.

Means I need a second TeX distribution for fink only? Since
there are
to of them, which should I choose? How up-to-date are they?

How can I prevent the fink TeX distribution to be invoked
when I e.g.
type pdflatex in the console. /sw/bin is in pole position in
the path.
Which is a good way to chance this?

I'm not sure if I understand this. Does this mean there will
be a
change which will cause that a lower number of packages will
need a
TeX package? Should I wait?

Thanks.
