i just downloadd the code for FF. to the casual user FF is
5M, but the
tar file is 32M, and unpacked it is a whopping 210M!

anyway, i was interested in looking at the part of that
210MB of code
that deals directly with how the hostory.dat file is
created.

can someone tell me exactly where to look in the multitude
of folders
where the code is located that details how FF records URLs
and creates
the history dat file?

thanks

It is written by a custom database called Mork in db/mork.
Woe to all
who enter. In db/morkreader (you'll probably need a trunk
build) is a
cleaner implementation which knows how to read these files.

In Firefox 2, the history system is in
toolkit/components/history/

This made me weep, I had favorite a cat called Mork
(actually that was
his nickname for Ţorgrímur) who I had to have euthanized a
year or so ago.
