Thread: Load XML

Load XML

Hi List,

I have an XML file (menu.xml) that loads fine in my flash
navigation on
top-level web pages. However, when I try to stick web pages
into
folders, flash won't load the XML file.

It's important that I have a relative path linking to the
XML file. The
only way I have found to fix this is: 1) using an absolute
link path; 2)
putting the menu.xml file in every folder. Doing either of
these means I
will be duplicating my work.

Are there any other alternatives?

Pass the path to the movie with FlashVars maybe.

That shouldn't be happening. It works on your Web site
loading the XML
until you put an HTML file in the same folder? Are you sure
that's what
is causing it? Is the path in your Flash file to the XML
relative to
the .swf or the HTML that embeds it? Because it needs to be
relative to
the HTML that embeds the .swf, not the .swf.

If you do option #1 you won't be duplicating your work since
the XML file
will be found in only 1 place.
