Thanks, Jason. Yes, I can edit the movie--I have the source.
I'm just
looking for a quick fix that doesn't involve changing from a
button to a
movie clip. I guess that's not so bad, though.

Not that I know of - button states are set from events
received from the
Flash player  - and I don't know of any way to override
those.  Maybe
someone else knows a hack.  

If you do a trace on the objects inside a button exposed to
you, you
get:

tabIndex
blendMode
cacheAsBitmap
filters
scale9Grid
getDepth
enabled
useHandCursor

none of which would do what you want to do.  You can't edit
the old
movie and fix it that way?

Well, that's just lazy then.  LOL.   Just
kidding, but in all
seriousness, it does seem like you're trying to get a round
peg to fit
into a square hole, or is it square peg into round - I can
never
remember which way the saying goes.
