User ID without cookies or php

Hi,
 I'm creating a game scoreboard and as I understand, there's
no way of getting a user's IP address directly from flash -
you have to go via the PHP or ASP etc.

 Is there a way of remembering who they are (getting a
unique user's ID) WITHOUT cookies?

You mean shared objects or cookies?

"remembering" - do you mean only for the user or
do you mean to store
that for the user or so you can access that data from a
central locale?
If the former, use Shared Objects.  If the latter, use
middleware like
.NET, PHP, ColdFusion, etc.

If the movie plays in the browser the answer is no.
Local Shared Objects ('Flash Cookies') are the only way to
save data on the
user's system.
