In a word, system access. Flash, as an Internet tool, is
very limited in
what it can do to your computer. Director can read and write
the registry,
change screen resolution, get a list of all the files on
your system, read
and write just about anywhere, and on and on. Zinc can do a
lot of the same
things. Basically, if you need to do something on a local
machine that Flash
can't do because of its security restrictions, you need a
wrapper like
Director.

First, forget about interactivity other than what you get
with any DVD--the
menus at the beginning. So, the questions are (1) how are
you going to
create your videos, and (2) how are you going to author your
DVD. Publish
your Flash pieces as video. There are a lot of good DVD
authoring tools out
there--check the reviews. I think Roxio has a good one, but
there may be
better. Not my field, really.
Jason, or somebody else, can probably answer your iPod
question, and
contribute more about DVD authoring. Just remember, a TV is
not a PC, and
DVDs have limited interaction.
Cordially,
