Hi all. Is there a way to search ALL scripts for a term,
instead of
just the currently-viewed script? Thanks!

If they're all in .as files in one folder, I usually use the
Find in
Dreamweaver to do that. Clunky, but I don't know any way in
Flash.

No, not in the Flash environment. If you're coding in
another app like
flex or aptana, possibly.

Both of these do, in fact. But in actuality it is a
functionality of
their Eclipse host.

Hi,
On a Mac also TextWrangler (a free and fast text editor) can
search
for strings in multiple files.

If you are using the TextPad text editor then it can search
all open AS
documents and do a replace. It's a very useful program. I'm
sure other
freeware editors will do the same.

Totally weird! I was just using the Help (yes, I do that!),
and
wanted to search for a term within the text (not the Find's
"search"
feature), so hit COMMAND-F. Up popped a "Find and
Replace" dialog box
- with a "Find All" button, a drop-down menu that
included "Text",
AND a series of options where to search, one of those being
"Actionscript"!
Enter a term and do a "Find All" - it lists all
occurrences of the
term. Clicking one opens the script in the script window.
Only thing
is, it doesn't appear to highlight the term within the
script, so you
still need to look within the script. But at least you can
quickly
find which script you need.

But at least

--------------
Addendum: it seems though, that if you are in a script
window,
COMMAND-F brings up a completely different "Find and
Replace" dialog
box, without those options! (?) But if you open a Help
window, you
get the full-blown "F and R" described above.
A "bug/feature"? :-{)]
