Hey Flockstars,

We want to hear from you. What web services do you value most? Who would you like to see integrate their service with Flock to make your online life easier and better?

You have all been great at sending me your suggestions, and I’ve logged each and every vote (which will be a large part of our consideration). Are there any you haven̵7;t mentioned, or want to really emphasize? Please try to restrain your suggestions to services that fit within the scope of our planned features: Blog services, Online bookmarking services, Photo uploading services, Photo consumption services, Video consumption services, Social Networking Sites, Search engines, and Tumblelogs.

Looking forward to reading your suggestions!

Since I starting working between 3 different computers, I
have a new
found appreciation for online newsreaders. Right now I am
using Google
Reader, but the specific service isn't a big deal to me. I
would love to
see Flock integrate an online newsreader or two into the
newsreader
Flock has already.

I know this suggestion has come up before in the forums. I
would
definitely vote for it.

Also, Joel asked about Twitter, Jaiku support. I would also
be
interested in that.

Hi Evan,

One thing that would help me out a ton is if the photo uploader could use FTP. Writing blog posts behind the company firewall about non-public stuff, I end up uploading any screenshots/pictures to my FTP/HTTP server, then opening the image in the browser, then drag & drop it into the blog editor. Not exactly the ideal, but it works for now, and the drag & drop actually is better than what I used to do!

It'd be great to drop a local image into my post & have it upload to my FTP server. Obviously there needs to be some mapping from ftp to http for the blog post, but that should be trivial configuration parameter stuff.

While I'm here, I think it'd be helpful if the upload supported WebDAV as well. Same situation as above.

I hope talking about FTP & WebDAV doesn't make me too old school. But I gotta use what works (and what's available!).

I';d also throw a vote in for twitter support because i'm totally getting addicted.

Appreciate the request for info.

Thanks

I want to see some integration with Zooomr.
I think it uses the Flikr API, what should made it easier to implement.

I will weigh in here with:

Add, if it is not already there and I just don't know how to use it, the ability to paste a picture (be it bmp, jpeg, etal) into a Flock Blog compose window.

Hey Erich,

Copy/paste isn’t supported for the Blog editor because your photo must be hosted somewhere. You can drag’;n’drop a photo from the desktop, but it will pop open the uploader to get it hosted somewhere. (let me know if I misunderstood)

Hey Christian,

I’ve seen a lot of requests for Zooomr. Are you looking for Uploader support, Photobar support, or both?

Hey Lukin,

I asked Erwan about FTP support. It sounds possible but probably not a possibility until 1.0 at least (same goes for WebDAV). However, if someone wants to try to throw together an extension that integrates FTP, it might speed things up. Erwan mentioned that he would be happy to assist anyone interested. Jeremy suggested taking a look at how FireFTP works would be a good way to start.
