No, you want a Mac mini -- there's no "i" in
this particular product.

Would the old mini handle it?

I've always found Apple's web site very informative for
determining what
are the current models. Apple is now only selling
Intel-based Mac minis,
with the exception of refurbished G4 minis via the Apple
Store. You can
also sometimes find new G4 minis at Costco.

Of course you know that you don't HAVE to use Lightscribe
discs with a
Lightscribe burner? They burn "regular" CDs and
DVDs just fine, you just
don't get the built-in labeling.

Is there a Labelmaker product out there
> which can make them rather professionally?

I'd strongly recommend AVOIDING paper labels. They don't
do well in
slot-loading drives, they eventually come off, the sticky
part can cause
issues with drives, etc.

Instead, I'd suggest buying "printable" white
DVD/CDs and using an
inkjet printer such as the Epson R220 (et al) line. Great
results, full
colour, right on the disc so there's no issues.

that affect the type of burners?

Not sure I understand this question.

on a disc, correct?

Yes, but we're probably at least a year away from HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray DVD
burners for computers, and probably TWO or more years away
from one that
would be considered "bargain-priced."

Currently, dual-layer burners can put up to 9GB on a single
disc -- that
should be enough for most practical applications for several
years to
come, so I don't think the whole "HD" thing
need enter your thinking on
this unless you are planning to work almost exclusively with
HD video
replication.

What other printers, other than Epson, can perform on disc
printing?
