Epiphany does not render flash objects in web pages. When I try installing the flash plugin it complains that I don't have mozilla. Is there a flash plugin for epiphany?

Which version of the Flash plugin are you using? Does
"about:plugins"
show anything in Epiphany (I'm not even sure if that trick
works in
Epiphany, but it works everywhere else).

So Epiphany is not finding the Flash plugin. Move the plugin
to where
Epiphany finds its plugins. I'm not sure where that is, but
surely
someone on this list does.
The Flash plugin is a file called
"libflashplayer.so".

This depends on the distribution you're running. It could be
something
like /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. If your distro builds
Epiphany against
Firefox then Epiphany should automatically find all plugins
that Firefox
does.

I would think that Epiphany would know where to put plugins.
If it's a global or Epiphany configuration I can understand it might need to be set correctly the first time a plugin was downloaded.
I'm not finding any help in Epiphany on even downloading a plugin in the first place. The about:plugins page sends me to mozilla for assistance.
I don't understand that if Epiphany is to cut ties with mozilla why would Epiphany Help send me right back to mozilla.
The package manager (Synaptic) indicates mozilla is nothing more than an empty package pointing to Epiphany.
This is a fresh install of Linux. Here is the uname output:
Linux orion 2.6.18-5-486 #1 Wed Sep 26 17:21:38 UTC 2007 i586 GNU/Linux

Epiphany doesn't put plugins anywhere. It depends on the
plugins
installed for Mozilla (either Firefox or XULRunner).

Epiphany isn't going to cut ties with Mozilla for the
forseeable future.

Well, that's weird. Is your distro Debian or Debian-based?
Then it might
be that there's an alias because they're not distributing a
browser
under the Mozilla brand any more because of licensing
issues. Their
version of Firefox is called Iceweasel, for example.

Yeah, mozilla Debian package is a transition package, but it
doesn't
point to Epiphany at all, it points to Iceape (which is
Debian version
of Seamonkey).
Larry: Mike pointed you to libflashplayer.so, it has to be
installed
in /usr/lib/xulrunner/plugins/. Note also that Debian
provides an
installer for the Flash plugin, flashplayer-nonfree,
installing it
would be the recommended way to get the proprietary plugin
installed.

Frederic

A search of the package installer showed no results for flashplayer-anything.
Perhaps I'm just not the type of user for Epiphany.
Thank you to all who provided assistance to me.

The package is called flashplugin-nonfree. It can be
downloaded from
<h
ttp://packages.debian.org/flashplugin-nonfree>. If it
does not show up
in synaptic then the reason is probably that you don't have
the 'non-
free' section of the Debian package repository enabled. This
can be
probably be done from within synaptic, but I don't know how
since I don't
use it myself.
