Hi community - great to see this commitment.

The incriminated folder is set up as the in- & out- box
for my gmail account
The folder is a direct subfolder of Inbox (the first one, as
it happens)
The folder contains sub-folders unaffected by the issue,
rules successfully
move messages to this email in the appropriate folder
without loss

out: Gmail account, smtp type using openPGP for Sign &
encrypt, sent-mail
folder set up to target the incriminated folder, special
transport set to
gmail smtp, no picture attached, signature only two lines of
plain text.
in: Gmail account (same), pop, password set to
"remember", no kwallet in use,
port 995 with SSL, clear text, messages set to stay on
server, interval mail
checking used

manual mail checking?

Automatic mail checking enabled, was 1 minute, lowered to 4.

No POP filtering. Rules to other folders works, no rules to
this folder except
the In- & Out- box settings to one particular account
targetted at this
folder.

> - Do you use message expiration?

No. Dunno about it - if in defaults settings of 1.8, I _may_
be using it then
(noticed the "successfully compacted" message here
& then). Kmail set up to
exclude important messages from expiration, but cannot find
expiration
setting/tickbox.

Or do you probably

Best of Third World available... As it happens, no bugs
lately. 64kbps
symmetric connection of tested 8kbits/sec speed both up
& down. No firwall,
but Linksys box "between" me & the outside
world. I do experience drop outs,
but not lately && it would have affected the other
accounts as well, as they
are set to interval mail check also. During drop out,
behaviour of kmail is
to believe no new message is on server (ie kmail does _not_
notice the drop).

> - What did you do just before the problem occurred?

Nothing. Kmail running with interval mail checking 8 to 16
hours a day. Always
sluggish, unresponsive at start up, then sometimes slowing
down on mail
retrieval. No major/minor upgrade, last "mod" to
the system is to subscribe
to openmoko mailing list & build rules to appropriate
subfolder

(e.g. was a mail

What happens is that messages turn blank _when_ you click on
it to diplay it,
both preview & double-click. At anytime I'm afraid. If
you copy a mail to the
faulty folder, message does not disappear.
-with 13 accounts, kmail is "always" checking
something, or almost-

Default to Maildir Format

Since then, kmail crashes a lot (find backtrace below)
without loosing drafts,
sent items & so on.

Thanks, I hope the other affected people reply also.
