Thanks v. much for getting back to me.

Unfortunately the method you suggest will not help. The
folders are in fact a
subject division or sub-division and I need copies of the
sent mails to be
appropriately catalogued in seperate folders.

The only way, so far, I can see of doing is to have replies
stored in the
folder using the folder preferences. Strangely enough I
cannot see a way of
setting the folder preferences to store the copies of
outgoing mails in a
specific alternative folder.

Hi David,

Perhaps defining a filter for your outgoing mails could do
the trick for you.
This, however, will only be possible if you have some way to
match mail from
these folders of yours. This depends on the way you sort out
your incoming
mail. If mails from different lists go to different folders,
you can create
an outgoing filter that matches some of the list headers
(for example - <any
header> contains foobar.baz).

The question is how do you separate the mail in the
different (sub)folders.
You can use the same criterion to filter out the outgoing
mail and create
copies of (or instead move) those messages accordingly.

Good luck!

It seems a great shame there is not a choice of sent mail
directory for the
folder properties. Failing that some kind of filter seems to
be the only way.
The problem is finding something to filter on as mails get
into these
directories via multiple routes including manual transfer.

Does anyone know how to automatically generate a custom
header into outgoing
mails in a directory. My system works well with incoming
stuff but my
outgoing mail records are in an uncatalogued mess!!
