ident daemon: oIdentd creating a lot of processes

hi! all,

i'm using oidentd-2.0.8 installed through
/usr/ports/security/oidentd
for ident authentication
what puzzled me is when im starting the daemon using the
script
provided at /usr/local/etc/rc.d/oidentd.sh it will create a
lot of
process ID and my system will become slow
CPU resources will turn upside down rapidly from 90+% idle
to always 0% idle

this is the PIDs while querying daemon status:
-- (attached: oidentd_script.txt)
while this is ps aux results:
-- (attached: oidentd_ps.txt)

is this normal for those who are using oidentd as ident
daemon? or
should i try other ident daemon?
this problem causing me to turn off accounting on my system
since is
will grab all process ID ran by oidentd hence increasing
logfile to a
massive huge size

my system as below:
FreeBSD matrix.localhost.net 6.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE
#0: Thu
Jan 7 12:13:30 UTC 2008
rootmatrix.localhost.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MTR i386

Thank you in advanced for your advice!

Regards

Is there a reason why you do not use the identd from FreeBSD
itself?

It is part of inetd and can be enabled in /etc/inetd.conf. I
have
changed the default options from:

#auth stream [...] auth -r -f -n -o UNKNOWN -t 30

to:

auth stream [...] auth -r -t 30

Documentation about the options is in the manpage of inetd
(search
for "auth").

Hope this helps.

bye
Fabian
