 Same problem with BTX Halted and scrolling screen.
 
 Booting from USB CDROM
 Space bar trick does not work for me.

The USB CDROM issue is a separate issue that was just fixed
a few days ago.  
You can try grabbing the latest 8.0 snapshot to see if it
works ok.
