Thread: Video Groups Helper

Video Groups Helper
country flaguser name
Switzerland
2008-04-25 00:20:28
I'm thinking about helping the first time users with
configuration.
There are two bits that are not so easy to configure, games
and TV.

In the latest rel-1 svn I've added a helper module to scan
the video
devices and print out some settings, but can't test this on
all video
devices. Would someone like to run it and post the output. I
would
really like to know about cards that are not ivtv, bttv.

The command is:
# freevo vg

Thanks
Duncan

radio0 vbi0 video0

video0 is from a Pinnacle 310i (saa7134 chipset)

Maybe you should also scan the /sys/class/dvb directory if
it's present?

What do the /sys/class/video4linux/*/name files contain?

Thanks for this what is in the
/sys/class/video4linux/video0/device
directory?

It should contain links like: video4linux:video0,
video4linux:vbi0 and
video4linux:radio0.

Thanks

AFAIK video4linux is for all video devices, so it should
have worked.
Will you try:
freevo execute src/tv/v4l2.py
You will get some errors, it is just the settings that
should be printed
out.

Here is the output on mine. Though it only detects the
analog side,
not the digital ATSC.

This is a bit strange, can you tell me what
ls /sys/class/video4linux/*/device
says?

It should contain something like:
video4linux:radio0 video4linux:vbi0 video4linux:video0
video4linux:video24 video4linux:video32

Thanks
Duncan

One TV card that I have uses the saa7133/4 driver, which is
very similar
and another has a gentoo kernel. I wonder what determines
which links in
the /sys/class/video4linux/X/device/ creates the video4linux
files.

May be I'll have to try the modalias again.
