Hi,

Playing with FontLab 5.0, I decided to created two fonts,
containing
the GNOME logo and GUADEC logo as glyphs. Here are the
results:

Current Usage:

- Using hi-quality GNOME and GUADEC logos in applications
which
doesn't support SVG yet. (FreeHand, OpenOffice, AbiWord?,
etc)

More Ideas:

- Using the "A" with fingers (in Gnome Logo) as a
logo for GNOME Art project.

- Adding GNOME Logo to the Unicode PUA, to make it easier to
use the
logo in help and other documents. (may be this one breaks
branding
policies).

I cannot remember more right now, may be more after some
sleep.

BTW I would like to dedicate this job to Quim Gil and
Vincent Untz for
their good job at GUADEC and GNOME Art.

Cheers,

Hi Behnam,

Thanks for the suggestions!

One thing - the Bitstream font you use for the
"normal" GNOME logo
doesn't match the one that Mairin Duffy made last year,
which is now the
official one:
http://live.gnome.org/BrandGuidelin
es?action=show&redirect=LogoGuidelines

The official one resembles (a lot) the MS Trebuchet we used
to use, and
I think it looks really good.

Cheers,
Dave.

I know. Gnome Logo only has 'a', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'g', and
'u'
characters, not all english alphabet. The font of
"GNOME" word in the
first example is NOT Gnome Logo; just the "GUADEC"
word is. Sorry for
the confusing example; I just wanted to show a real-world
use case.
