Problems installing smalltalk 2.2.tar source under Linux

Hello,

I'm trying to install the smalltalk 2.2 source under the
Slackware
based Vector Linux. The compilation is successful but in
/lib and
/usr/local there is no smalltalk file and I do not know how
to start
the program.
I unpacked and compiled the source in the /home/user
directory, not in
/usr/src directory because the use of the /usr/src was not
explicitely
required in the README file of the package.
