make fails on OS X

Trying to build Mailutils v. 1.2 on OS X v. 10.4.10 so I can
get a  
movemail that uses imap4 (the aquamacs movemail doesn't
support imap4  
apparently).

the following errors occured when using configure as
below... any  
help very much appreciated.  The
"--without-readline" option was  
added because without it various ml_* functions cause
errors.

thank you.  After applying the patch referred to in the
message URL  
above, the build failed with the same error.   Then I used
the CVS  
version as well and the same failure.   OS X 10.4.10 and
configure  
options are
--sysconfdir=/etc --without-readline --enable-mh-utils
make returns:

just attempted that and it fails with:

./autogen.sh
Copying file po/Makevars.template
aclocal: macro `AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' required but not defined
aclocal: macro `AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' required but not defined
autoreconf: aclocal failed with exit status: 1
