Good morning,

I have saved the card sorting results report and
accompanying cluster
tree to http://www
.squishypuppy.com/dav/codex.zip.

The png file is hard to read -- it is a glued-together
composite of
two screen shots (the tree takes up more than one screen on
my
computer, so a single screen shot does not capture all of
the data).
I can email pngs of each of the two screen shots to anyone
who might
need them.

Christian and Bharat, for the sake of comprehensive
record-keeping, I
can email you the .csv file that was output from websort.net
(the
online card sorting tool). It shows all of the data entered,

comments, and new cards added. Let me know if you would like
the
file, or if my report (in the codex.zip file) is enough.

I am closing on a house and moving this week/next week, so I
will be
on email here and there if you need me, but might take me a
few days
to respond to any emails you send.

Thanks,
Valerie

I had promised Val some feedback this weekend, but moving
houses really does
take a lot of time. Even when done "moving".
I'll try to look at tehe results tonight, and I'll try to
post something
here when I have.

I have a readthrough of the pdf provided, and have the
following feedback:

Type of Categories
That was a suprising result. 20% task based, 80% not, yet
in your
conclusion/recommendations you say:

"Category labels should be nouns (customization,
installation, etc.), but
consider
re-titling content pages to use a task focus (installing,
customizing,
etc.). The
majority of new cards that users created during the sort
were task-focused
(page
titles began with a gerund - Verb-ing)."

How does that fit with the fact that 20% of users
categorised content
differently? Am I missing the point here and comfusing
categorization with
actual content?

Separating G1 and G2 is a given, and the base categories
proposed does seem
to match the ones we already have.
One thing I have a question about though, is the
"About Gallery" category.
As the Gallery Project encompas both G1 and G2, having one
subcategory
called "About Gallery" for both seems a bit
much. I think that we need one
"about Gallery" category that has general
information about the project
itself, like contact info, mailinglist info, IRC details and
so on. We
should of course have a subcategory for G1 and one for G2
that has "about"
information that doesn't fit into the other categories we
have.

Seems like our users also find that we put to much
information into the
"About Gallery" category. Perhaps we should
separate it more by calling it
"About the Gallery project" and then have
"About Gallery 1" and "About
Gallery 2" subsections under the G1 and G2 main
categories?

I'm pretty amazed that people orphaned "Frequently
Asked Questions for
Gallery 1" but, I guess that goes to show that we need
to work harder on
categorizing the content even clearer.

All in all, the suggestions made seem to fit how I would
envision
reorganizing the codex.

Gallery 1
	About Gallery 1
	Getting Started with Gallery 1
	Installation
	Customization
	Help
Gallery 2
	About Gallery 2
	Getting Started with Gallery 2
	Installation
	Customization
	Help
Other Gallery Products
	Gallery Local
	Gallery Remote
Develop for Gallery
Download Files
About the Gallery Project

That organization of the content does make a lot of sense to
me, I hope it
does for the rest of the team as well. If we all can agree
on using this
structure from now on, we need to start getting the content
organized in
this matter.

Crosslinking pages between the different main categories
also makes a lot of
sense, since much of our content could potentially fit into

All in all, I think this will be a great help for us. I
haven't been able to
study the Cluster Tree that closely yet. I would like to get
my hands on the
two .png version of it and even print on my A3 printer at
work. My laptop
screen is to small to really get a full overview of it.

Has anyone else had a look at Val's report, and have any
feedback before we
start reorganizing the content?
