just the basic steps, with many links to more info on each.
- download and install
- pick/activate some modules/themes
- configure site admin
- configure root album (permissions and album settings that
will inherit
to albums created later!)
- create album, upload photos

some link there should go to Category:Project where you can
find all
other things like Presentations

It's done, I think we're ready to launch the new codex front
page.

See below for a quick launch plan.

- Changed top-level link Configuration to Administration and
Maintenance
- Created ht
tp://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:About
- Created http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Quick
_Start_Guide
- Renamed Gallery to Gallery1:About and adapted content from
Gallery2:About
to it
ht
tp://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery1:About
- Created http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery1:Quick
_Start_Guide
which basically links to existing content
- Created htt
p://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery:About to
replace the
About page on GMC

-> New front page is complete:
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Sandbox:Main_Page

Here is the list of links whose target will change. Please
review and
comment on it:

As a user, do you really think you'd want to look for
webhosting referrals
on the documentation page?
You see the page full of important and well sorted links.
Then you see
'Webhosting referrals'. What's the rationale to click on
that or to be
interested in that in this context?

I'm asking users to subscribe to the announcements lists.
And note: There's still a frontpage link to mailinglists on
the new
Development page.

I wanted to get the number of links in the 'Gallery Project'
column down to
a concise list of very important / meaningful links.
See http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Sandbox:Main_Page

I've removed
* [[Sandboxownloads
|Downloads]]
Because there's a big fat 'downloads' link in the upper
right corner of the
page.
* [[Evaluate Gallery]] - Try the '''demo'''!
Because this will be on the frontpage of Gallery
[{}/about About Gallery]
I changed that link to 'Gallery Project Information which
links to
:Category:Project which includes the about link
* [[Presentations]]
Because that's in the :Category:Project

Question:
Do we have both, a Category:Gallery and a Category:Project?
The former for common G1/G2 docs and the later for project
related docs?
Works for me.
