Hello Everyone,

Does the New owner function allow someone else to use the Gallery of the person who set it up or am I mistaken? If I'm mistaken, I guess it would assist me if someone could clarify what this function does.

I would also just like to thank Alan, Chris, Andy, Bharat, Chad, and everyone else for their valuable assistance so far. Your responses and other input has been very helpful.

Thanks,

Jeff

I guess you're referring to "edit permissions -> new
owner."

- Only admins (users that are in the site admin group) and
the current owner
can change the ownership of an item.

What does it mean to be the owner of an item?
- the user who adds an item / album is assigned as the owner
of that item /
album
- some themes show the full name of the owner next to each
item

But an owner doesn't automatically have full access / all
permissions for
the items he owns.
By default, an owner just has the permissions for an item
that he has for
the album the item was created in.

An exception is the user-album module. There, an owner gets
full access for
all items he owns, by default.

 - Andy

actually.. even though being "owner" doesn't
automatically mean you have
permission to do anything, I think the "change
owner" function may grant
all permissions to the new owner. (maybe that's a bug,
dunno.. but i've
seen owner permissions appear when using change owner)

True, you need to be the owner and have "change
item" + "change permissions"
permissions to be able to change the owner.
