What is most confusing about the documentation for a newbie
like me is
there is no outline of the structure of the program to begin
with. ( I
didnt even understand the use for the program - see 2ndlast
paragraph
below - I'm not that bright))
I will attempt to advise you as I go along on how the
documentation
might be improved.
However, let me tell you, when I bought this webspace 6
weeks ago, I
knew virtually nothing about css & php except the words
(
abbreviations?). ( I made html 1 webpages by hand in the
90's, and a few
very very simple pages in word and frontpage since then, no
php or css).

I learned how to manipulate joomla & css and php files
in a few hours
using the "Screenbooks visual tutorial" I found at
help.joomla.org. I
would suggest you do something like that, and do it with a
newbie
sitting beside you.

This type of help is exactly what a newbie needs. And if you
could do
something like that, maybe Gallery would be used by many
many more
people. To me, having to ask basic questions about a product
on a forum
like this, instead of being able to consult a reference of
some kind,
makes the whole thing seem undocumentated and useful only to
computer
programming wizards. I wouldnt have bothered to post the
questions on
this forum if I knew of any other open source gallery type
program to
install.

I was inspired enough to try to give developers a better
starting point.

http://codex.ga
llery2.org/Development

The links in the Gallery 2 column have been reorganized with
more useful
information at the top. The very top link, "Code
Overview" is a new
document I wrote as a developer introduction and linking
into other
documents for more detail.

I'm done with this pass, so feel free to edit/add, add
links, etc.. I'm
not sure how great this document is, but it's definitely
better than we
had before
