install.php halts?

I'm upgrading from 1.3.11 to 1.4.newest and after I hit the
button to 
upgrade the database the page just goes blank.

I'm using SUSE 10.0 with all updates.

It looks like everything works... but what would I have gone
through if 
the script had continued?

Danke, apparently it was trying to give me a notice, since
it was set to 
E_ALL and something else.
