Thread: kio_man customization (css)

kio_man customization (css)

Hello,

I'd like to customize the looks of the man kioslave for one
specific
user. The man:/ kioslave seems to use a global CSS file for
rendering
its pages, /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/kio_man/kio_man.css.
Naturally, I
tried to set up my own kio_man.css in
~/.kde/share/apps/kio_man though
this doesn't seem to be read by Konqueror.
What's the proper way to make user-specific alterations to
the CSS file?

Thanks,
Wolfgang Frisch

This looks right.
% kde-config --path data
should list all "data" directories KDE looks
into.

If you check the page source, what URL does it use?

I checked the kio_man code and it also reference a
kde-common.css from
% kde-config --path html
subdirectory en/common

Kevin

That cleared things up for me.
By altering my user-local kde-common.css, I've managed to
customize
man:/ and info:/ to be a bit kinder to my screen space.

Unfortunately I've had to patch the kioslave's sourcecode
itself to
also alter the size of the header images, but it wasn't much
of a
hassle as it only involved changing some of the HTML strings
in the cpp
source files.

Cheers,
Wolfgang
