I realize that it's an Open MPI FAQ item, but I think that
the issue may
be the same.  Specifically, libpbs.a was found, but you are
trying to
create shared LAM libraries.  You may be able to recompile
Torque with
-fpic such that libpbs.a is able to be linked into shared
libraries.

Alternatively, I believe that recent versions of Torque
(2.1.x?) allow
building of shared libraries.  If upgrading is a
possibility, this may
solve your problem.
