LAM: Inter vs Intracommunicator...Who is the best?

I have a simple question for you...

But who is the best between the 
intercommunicator and intracommunicator?

Is better use an 
intercommunicator with Send/Recv or Bcast...
or is better use the 
MPI_Intercomm_merge and to use the Send/Recv or Bcast inside
the new 
intracommunicator created?

I talk about the performance...is more 
faster the inter or the intracommunicator?
Do they have the same 
performance?The same speed?

I do believe that you just asked this same question on both
the Open MPI and
MPICH mailing lists.

Many of us are on at least 2 out of those 3 lists; you might
want to post
once and see if you get decent replies first before sending
the same
question to as many lists as you can think of (you already
got at least one
reply on the OMPI list).  Especially when you send the
messages with
"Highest priority."
