Dear all,

As you can see from attached output of the configure script, I am having trouble building LAM/MPI under Cygwin on WinXP, due to the absence of "threading support" on my platform. Also I'm getting warnings about SYSV semaphores and shared mem. Have also tried building under MinGW, with exact same result. Do I need to install a particular Cygwin package? Afaik I have pthreads installed already.

I realize that my problem is quite possibly due to my cluelessness (have only modest experience building in POSIX env), so I've made a sincere attempt to find a solution for this on the FAQ, docs, web, news, mailing lists, but couldn't find anything that helped me along. I would appreciate your assistance.

Thank you,
Caspar De Groot.

I'm not sure why you aren't getting threading support.
However, it
should be perfectly safe to compile LAM on cygwin with the
--without-
threads option.

As for the System V shared memory and semaphores, I believe
there is
a Cygwin package that must be installed in order for that
support to
work properly. Unfortunately, I don't know what the package
name is,
and the developer that did the Cygwin support for LAM/MPI
has long
since moved on.
