LAM: Special tuning for SMP systems?

Hello, 

When compiling LAM (7.1.2) in order to use it on an SMP
system, 
are there some tunable paramters that can be set in order to
optimize communication speed? 

For instance 
./configure --with-modules=rpi:usysv
--with-rpi-usysv-short=524288 ...
?
