Dear all at LAM-MPI,

As a conceptual/basic question, what is difference between LAM/MPI and MPICH?

In fact, I have always interpreted, for myself, MPI as a programming language; and MPICH and LAM as two different compilers for it (plz take it easy! my interpretation is just a simulation in my mind to connect new knowledge to my previous, well-established knowledge).

I know that MPI is a library of some functions, but I don't exactly know what is the functionality of LAM and MPICH.

Thanks for any coming advice and guidance,

MPI is a standard comprised of 2 documents: MPI-1 and MPI-2.
 They
are both available at the main MPI Forum web site: http://www.mpi-
forum.org/

LAM/MPI and MPICH are two different software implementations
of the
same standard.
