While checking into the OS X problem from the prior thread,
I ran  
across a bug in LAM's configure that I can't believe has
lived for so  
long.  It results in a bunch of configure test programs
being compiled  
as:

     int main(int argc, char* argv)

This choked the C++ tests.

Attached is a trivial patch.

Jeff,

What should we do with your patch? Copy somewhere or replace
something  
with that you sent us?

Yes, I actually had to implement it before a proper compile.

It's a patch for the source code to LAM's configure; it's
not really  
intended for end users.  This will allow the 1 remaining LAM
 
maintainer (Brian) to apply it to the LAM SVN repository
(when/if he  
has time).
